By car
Renting a car is the most flexible way to see multiple regions in one trip — roads are in good condition on main routes, and distances between regions are short (2–3 hours at most).
By bus
Frequent, affordable intercity buses connect Skopje, Ohrid, and most major towns. Booking ahead isn't usually necessary except in peak summer season.
By train
A limited rail network connects Skopje to a handful of other cities — scenic, but slower than buses and not comprehensive enough to rely on for a full itinerary.
Ride-hailing & taxis
Taxis are inexpensive and metered in Skopje and Ohrid; ride-hailing apps have partial coverage in the capital.
